Intolerable, unacceptable and unforgiving! That’s how former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert describes the tragic humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

UNICEF reports more than “one million children are at risk of starvation. They are being deprived of food, water and medicine … It is unconscionable that over 45 children have reportably been killed in air strikes in the past two days. This horror must stop.”

Former Prime Minister Olmert says the war must be stopped now! “Israel must provide for the humanitarian needs of the Gaza population. We can’t allow morally the beginning of a famine. This has to stop.”

As Uniting Church President Rev Charissa Suli writes: “We cannot stay silent while bodies are crushed by bombs and children starve. If we do not speak, even the stones will cry out. To remain silent would be to deny the truth of what we see, and can never give us a just peace.”
